Family-friendly ski holiday

With two children's areas and fun activities with the mascots Huski & Flaks, there is always something exciting to do. Our popular ski and snowboard school offers safe instruction for all levels, and children under 8 receive free lift tickets, making skiing even more accessible. In the high season, concerts, events and activities await that provide extra joy and memories for the whole family.

Winter paradise for all adventurers

Although off-piste skiing from Gaustatoppen is high on many people's bucket list, there are many other winter activities. Go on an adventure to the lesser-known mountain peaks with snowshoes or ski touring, or glide through 85 km of cross-country trails. Gausta is also known as one of the best places for ice climbing with over 192 frozen waterfalls, or how about enjoying the tranquility of the mountains and trying your hand at ice fishing?

After a day on the slopes, join in the lively après ski at Loftet, with live music on selected days. Recharge between adventures

Between adventures, you can find peace in the wellness area at Gaustablikk Fjellresort, where you can enjoy a pool, hot tub, sauna and lounge area with a view of Gaustatoppen. Experience the floating saunas at Kvitåvatn, and combine with a refreshing ice bath in the mountain water. To recover and recharge for new adventures, you can book a massage with our experienced therapists specializing in physiology and sports.

The journey here

Gausta Ski Center is located on the Gausta mountain plateau, above the World Heritage town of Rjukan in Tinn Municipality. You can easily get to Gausta by car, which takes 2.5 hours from Oslo, 4.5 from Kristiansand or 6 hours from Stavanger and Bergen. It is also possible to travel here by bus, or a combination of bus, train and plane.

From Oslo

From Oslo, follow the E18 to Drammen, then the E134 towards Kongsberg. After Kongsberg, take the FV37 towards Notodden, then continue towards Rjukan and further up the mountain to Gaustablikk. This route takes approximately 3 hours.

From Bergen

From Bergen, follow the E39 towards Åsane. Continue on the E39 until you meet the E16 at Flåm. Take the E16 towards Fagernes, and from there take the RV7 to Geilo. From Geilo, follow the RV40 until you meet the E134 at Notodden. Continue on the E134 until you reach Rjukan, and then take the FV37 to Gaustablikk. The trip takes approximately 6-7 hours.
